So here’s another thing I have replaced and you won’t believe how easy this is to make!
Mayo. Yes I said Mayonnaise.
That wonderful little condiment that we use for so many things and don’t even think twice about what it is made of. We’ve seen advertising that swoops in and tells us these are the things that “make good food great.” Yes, that’s Hellmann’s tagline.
With mayo it doesn’t matter what brand you look at they all use Soybean oil or some sort of bad oil as their main ingredient. Have you ever REALLY researched this???? Look at my picture of my old jar I had hiding in my fridge.
Soybean oil can lead to obesity, diabetes, and potentially autism, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and depression. It causes inflammation in the body.
Why on God’s green earth would we want to have this in almost everything we use?????
Ugh…this infuriates me.
Did you know that you can make mayo in less than 5 minutes? NO joke.
Here’s what I use in mine:
- 1 Egg (I use fresh from a farm or organic pasture-raised)
- 1 cup high-quality Avacado oil or Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 tbsp Red or White Wine Vinegar
- 1/4 tsp Sea Salt (I like Redmonds)
- 1 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice
Put all ingredients in a jar and use an immersion blender for 5 to 10 seconds. That’s it. Some recipes out there say you have to drip the oil in slowly. NOT true. Works every single time if you put it all together and then put the blender down in the bottom of the jar, turn it on and voilà…homemade mayo!
