Reading Food Labels Is Like Reading Hieroglyphics

Hi friends!  Over this journey of mine, I have been learning to read labels and search for products that are better for us.  Do any of you have the same issue with reading labels that I do? It’s crazy how long the ingredient list is for most so called “food” in the grocery store. Honestly, I am so glad I eat the way I do now, focusing on whole real foods that I don’t have to decipher lists anymore.

When I do have to bake something for a special occasion (like Thanksgiving), I try to find the lowest-carb ingredients or ones that are whole, real products.  Example….my cheesecake!  It can be made carnivore, dirty carnivore or keto.  I use farm-fresh eggs (or free-range organic), real grass-fed butter, and my key ingredient, WHOLE cream cheese by Tillamook. It’s one of the only cream cheeses in my area without fillers or gums. Yep, Philadelphia cream cheese uses fillers so I don’t use it anymore. (read the labels!) My crust, if I use it, is either nuts and butter or a very low-carb coconut cookie I get at Aldi, which has only a few ingredients I can pronounce, along with butter.

For those of you saying, “but I thought you didn’t eat that,” well, I don’t normally.  Because I eat the way I do, my body can handle the sugar/carbs better.  I know to eat a lot of protein and fat to go with it, so my blood sugar doesn’t spike as much.

If you didn’t know it already, I am about 98% carnivore or what I say is animal-based or ketovore which just means I eat mostly meat or products derived from animals.  I have 2 reasons for this: 1. Cancer feeds on sugar, so having had colon cancer already, I don’t want it anywhere else and  2.  Veggies and the lack of a colon is no bueno.  They HURT going out. 

Ever since my surgery and having the colon removed, I have realized we don’t need veggies like they tell us we do.  I know that I am going to strike a nerve with many people out there, but just hear me out.  

I can promise you that you do NOT get as many nutrients from vegetables as you think.  How do I know?  Without a colon what I eat actually doesn’t spend much time at all in my body.  Veggies go from our stomach through the small intestine and in your case, they sit in the colon to ferment.  In my case, there is no sitting.  Those bad boys look exactly the same coming out as they did going in.   So in the organs where we think we are getting nutrients from vegetables, we are not or VERY little.   

In your case, they scrape by the colon walls and pack in the colon.   I just don’t see how that can be healthy, but I’m definitely not a doctor so believe what you want here. 

I know what you are thinking now.  How in the world am I not constipated from just eating meat and dairy?  Meat is the most broken-down food that passes through my system.  I know that people who have colostomy bags will tell you the same thing.  We don’t need vegetables for fiber.  I NEVER get constipated.  I never have gas.  I never have a bloated stomach.  

I DID when I ate vegetables, store-bought bread, and carbs/grains.

I’m not going to sit here and preach to you.  I will tell you that if you DO decide to change your ways, start with limiting your carb intake, ditch the processed crap and start eating whole foods.  Whole veggies are better than processed crap any day!

It may SEEM more expensive to eat like me, but I buy a lot less at the store than you.  My items may cost more, but I use less, and I do not throw things away.  I also only eat 2 times a day because that is all I need. I am not hungry as much when I eat this way.

I eat maybe 5 to 20 carbs a day depending on if I have fruit or local honey.  For you, that may be too drastic so start with 100 grams per day.  Drop your grams each week until you can get yourself under 30.  It really isn’t hard when you start eliminating sugar.  You don’t get hungry.  If you are a woman, making sure you eat fats with your protein is crucial.  You have to have them.  I usually put butter in my coffee and/or in my eggs.   I fry my eggs with beef tallow or bacon grease, too and may add an avocado to the plate.  

If you love your fruit like I do at times (which IS sugar, but natural) just try to get used to eating it with your protein and fats.  This will keep you from a spike in your blood sugar.  Don’t overeat them, either.  They increase your carb count drastically.  So, that fruit smoothie you think is so healthy in the morning is actually raising your blood sugar drastically if you are drinking it alone.

I have been eating this way for about 3 years now, and my blood and vitals are all perfect.   My skin is more clear than it has ever been.  My joints rarely hurt when I wake up in the morning.   I am still able to do CrossFit workouts, too.  So, I am not missing anything by eating this way.
